Crazy Chris is back at it again! I can't say I'm a huge U2 fan but damn they sold some records in their time and def came with some classics. They consistiently reinvented themselves for years while keeping the music conscious and catchy. Big Pun on the other hand was way ahead of his time. I would have like to of seen him go head up with Biggie. You see how an MC passes and their is no one to fill their shoes? That's how you know the mark of a legendary MC.

That "Mash Up Season" freestyle was dope. I like how Geolani and Montega set that off, def adds another element to the mix. "Off The Books of Pride" was my favorite blend. That Pun verse is classic, he def brought that Beatnuts song to the next level but add in that guitar from U2 and it's a wrap. Every time I hear "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" it brings me back to when I was 14 years old washing dishes during the breakfast shift at this restaurant and the cooks were trying to get me smoked up on some late 80's weed. lol "The Mysterious Ways of Leather Face" got that energy to it. Pun had an intense flow, he attacked beats when he wanted too and CC looped that U2 track to perfection. Technically speaking, "Get Your Grind On and I Will Follow" sounds like it was hard work. That blend had so many elements in it and changes throughout I bet it was almost made on accident and just turned out dope; either that or it was a big pain in the ass to make. lol The only joint I really couldn't get into was "All I Want Is To Not Be A Player", the beat wasn't working for me.

Rattle and Pun is a good look for the mixtape game. Concepts like this help mixtapes gain fans and appeal to people outside the hip hop community. Its also refreshing to hear a DJ mix something other than AC/DCs "Back & Black" and call it a mash up. There may be a few other "mash" up DJs with higher profiles but none can cross genre's and drum up concepts like DJ Crazy Chris. Welcome to the official start of the 2007 Mash Up Season. (4/24/07)
