Let's welcome Streetz & Young Deuces to the Rapmullet review section. The mid west stays dropping that quality product with it's thick talent pool. For those not in the know, these two are from Milwaukee and they have been doing their thing consistently for years now. DJ Heathen is hosting and keeping the music moving, shot to him too...welcome to the Mullet.
That into was some funny shit. You have to show some character in your mixtapes so that people can relate to you. I don’t know if I would have jumped shit off with “Im’a Get Money”. The track is catchy but it lacked energy and you def want to at least have one of your best tracks play first to hold that listeners ear. “System Go Wham!” would have been the first track if I was putting this together. It’s got that bounce and it showcases their flow along with those writing skills on the hook. The “Dialtone” remix with Sparkdawg was a perfect fit. Plus the way they set that up with the skit was classic. Maybe its just me but the remix for “Cause I Can” with JR Da Superstar is a hit. I’m telling ya’ll when Streetz & Young Deuces get on a high energy track they shine like a mutha fucka. What I like about this joint is it’s natural; meaning it can have your ridin’ out and it will get the club amped the fuck up too. Cats sound real comfortable on this joint. “I Love You Pt. 2” is my joint. Cats are hungry on this joint, ready to eat other MCs food. Peep it…”Me...I be on my g-packs and L-Bs / so little ni99a there ain’t nothing you can tell me.” Cats hit the booth and rhymed their ass off with this one. Concept wise I like how they flipped “Record Exec’s” over “Fully Loaded Clip”. Classic line..”Nick Cannon got a label…’shit I ain’t that hungry’”
This is a solid project right here. DJ Heathen def has the gift of gab and was a potent host. Plus he got his skills off a little too which on a mixtape is always a good thing. One of the main things that impresses me with Streetz & Young Deuces is they know their sound. They know what type of beats work for them and they have a great understanding of the formula they used to make music. Me being me, I’d like to hear them get a little more well rounded with the content. As I said above when they hop on a high-energy track, they shine and once they get the right beat and it’s timed perfectly it’s a wrap. So with that said I’ll be looking for their first mega-hit anthem sometime in 2008. (11/29/07)
