Is North Philly in the Rapmullet review section? You damn right. 2ew Gunn Ciz is back at it again with some raw uncut bars. The 3-second rule applies to so many situations. I drop my sandwich on the ground…3-second rule and I’m good. This project title applies to tailgating tho. If you don’t know what the analogy is by it…stab yourself with a rusty screwdriver, idiot.
Shout to Dot Com on the interludes. Shit was a riot…”one, two, three and to the four…” Classic. And the second interlude…(“of course…HELLO?”) Shout to DJ Bedtyme who stays with a project in the streets. Track wise…”Beautiful Morning” is my joint. Beat sounds friendly but the bars are brought right to your chest as only 2ew Gun Ciz can do. Back pack crack rap, that’s how Ciz describes his style on “Round and Round”. I can dig it. Drawzilla laces “Spit At You”. That hook…crack-a-licious, Ciz is “in the hood like Medicaid” on this one. I’m fucking with “Money” too, shit grew on me. I don’t usually gravitate to the more radio friendly hook sounding joints but the shit sounds good as hell in my ride. Esso slides thru on “Audio/Video”. Both MCs going toe to toe on that beat. “The Last Time” is the best track up on here to me. I mean who can’t relate to that shit and Ciz painted the picture perfectly. On the mixtape flip side of things, you can never go wrong flipping “Leflaure Leflauh”. Every artist mixtape needs at least one proper mixtape flip and this is it.
Ciz is slept on, but he continues to find ways to shine. That’s what quality MCs do. This project right here is proof. If it’s one thing I would change is just the length of the whole thing. I’m def a subscriber to the whole “less is more” theory when it comes to artist mixtapes. Give me the most potent joints clocking in at 14-15 tracks as opposed to 24-25. Besides that tho, the flow, the content, the balance is all there. And as always the MC grind continues. (8/12/08)
