Corona Queens up in this bitch. They may not have invented hip hop but it's where hip hop legends are born. Welcome Camiliano to the Rapmullet review section. Crown City is the gang/movement and best believe that shit is strong like bull.
“You Ain’t A Boss” got that knock. Truth be told this track right here is video worthy. The possibilities are endless for that visual. That hook is so simple yet so effective...”you ain’t a boss ni99a / get lost ni99a...” Classic. The last verse of “Genesis” is crazy potent. Camiliano saying some shit, especially the last minute of that track; easily one of the best tracks up on here. It wouldn’t be a mixtape without a mixtape flip or two. “On The Go” lyrically and song structure wise has hit potential. I’m not a fan of the sing song’y hook but Camiliano feaked it. Not many cats can rhyme about dreams, visions and hoe’s all in the same couple bars but he pulls it off. That “transition” track was a perfect set up for “On My Shit”. Patrick Dempsey’s character from Mobsters breaking down some true to life shit in that scene. As far as collaborations go, Gab Gotcha slides thru to lace “My Thang”…the flow is ridiculous people. Willie Maze and Evil Eye weave in and out of the piano on “Don’t Hate Take Notes”. My other joint on here is “Piece of Mind”. That track was speaking to me man’; Camiliano speaking about real life lessons and situations. “Heart Of Stone” has the ill vocal sample with Willie Maze riding shotgun on the beat.
One thing I noticed as I listened to this project back to back a few times is that you can tell Camiliano is a true hip hop head. He has a passion for the music regardless if he’s making it or not. Many times, you hear MCs and they are just rhyming to rhyme, cause they want to ‘get money’ and they have no real passion for the music. What Camiliano brings to the table is a skilled MC who lives Hip Hop…that’s the bottom line and its one of the main reason’s why he’s on his way to bigger things. (2/3/08)
