Shout and welcome to DJ Flaco. I’ve had this project for a minute but party joints don’t really get out dated like some other mixtapes. For those that don’t know, Flaco is Ohio’s Mixtape Murderer…gotta love that tag line too. I’m not gonna give you mad highlights. I mean you know these songs already so it really comes down to the mix.

There’s a couple things that make a great party/club mixtape. First up is you have to cater to who is gonna be listening to this the most…the females. This isn’t the time to play that new M.O.P track that you just got emailed. Chics want hits, they want energy and they need to be consistent throughout. Next is timing. You don’t even need to be mixing and beat matching everything like a wild banche…as long as the next track drops on time that’s all that matters. Flaco does this well and he even has two hosts throughout: Kat De Luna and Flo-rida. . Tracks have to drop somewhat quickly too. If your “In The Club” mixtape tracks out at 15 tracks you don’t get it. Flaco tops this project off at 40. We all know “quality” mixtapes have peaks and valley’s but your “club” mixtape should be pretty level, not dipping into too many valley’s. Flaco’s first “valley” hits with Wiz Khalifa’s “Say Yeah”. It’s a dope song, but I say “valley” in the sense that’s when shit slows down a little. It’s mostly to segue into “Lollipop” and the lower tempo joints. He brings that tempo back up after a few joints with the Movado laced “I’m On The Roc” remix.

The thing that stands out the most to me with this project is the energy. Flaco kept shit consistent throughout, his ear is most def on point too. Acutal turntable skills will only get you so far on a party mixtape. You can cut shit up till the cows come home but if your track selection is wack you lose before you even get done cutting. Track section and true mixing hold down this joint…and that’s the bottom line. (7/8/08)
